I'm Tommy, a Refrigeration Mechanic and I’m Kobee, an Executive Assistant and along with our little ones Letti and Mack, we’re "The Tetleys". We are keen travellers and love anything that involves 4wding, camping, hunting, hiking, beach, waterfalls and beautiful scenery. Although we have been so lucky to grow up in small country towns of NSW (Bribbaree & Bungendore), a couple of years ago we found life was getting mundane and a mix of things led us to taking the leap to pack up our lives and hitting the road with our touring vehicle and 21.6ft bunk caravan. You could say the research started back at the start of 2021 amongst running our own business, raising a toddler, working the 9-5, trying to maintain a social life along with our relationship and sanity and finding out baby #2 was on the way. We decided we wanted something more than the cold climate and same old scenery we were used to. We wanted a 12 month adventure checking out the best of QLD and NT to see if there was a place we wanted to relocate and give our kids a life that is a permanent holiday instead of having a trip to the beach once every now and then between work and other life commitments.
Tommy has such incredible attention to detail when it comes to all aspects of life especially with his work and any investments we make. The canopy was going to be just that – an investment! If we were going to take this trip seriously we needed a canopy with everything to make life comfortable, functional and convenient. We needed something to take off-grid, carry work tools, fit a double pram and have extra storage for food and drinks for the long stretches in remote country and outback Australia, not to mention somewhere to stash the coffee machine and oven for meals on the run. After months of research and comparison, it was a no-brainer to go with the G-Works canopy on an old workhorse, a 2017 Ford Ranger which we lovingly nicknamed Frankie. We set off on our trip in October 2021 when Mack was just 8 weeks old and Letti had not long turned 2 (yep, we don’t do things half-hearted). So many challenges, lessons, belly laughs, adventures, waterfalls, lookouts, campsites, towns, wildlife, national parks, beaches and landmarks seen since then. Fast forward to now and we are exploring FNQ one weekend at a time with the best canopy in the biz.
